Balance. We are not talking about standing on one leg, even though that is important, it improves proprioception.
We are talking about balancing you life. The first step in living a balanced life, is to make sure that your mental health is alright. If you are not okay, emotionally, there is no way that you can balance your life. Therapy can be a great way to work through some issues. There are a lot of negative connotations that come to mind when people hear the word therapy, especially in the black community but ignore the crowd and do what’s best for you. It’s best to not try to do too many things at once. If you have multiple huge goals, most likely some of them will get very little time and attention, become ignored. If you try to do everything at once, you might get overwhelmed and that can negatively effect your mental health. If your plans are not time sensitive, I suggest you put it off and finish one thing at a time. There’s this thing called the snowball effect, that I read in some finance book. I cannot remember which one. The concept is simple, focus on paying your smallest debt off first, then when that is paid off, you can work on the next one, until you finally pay off the biggest debt. When you pay off the smaller loan, not only do you feel accomplished, but you now have more money to pay off the next loan, and the more loans you pay off, the more you can contribute to the next loan like a snowball. You most likely have to pay off the other loans while paying the smallest loan, but you just pay only the principal and pay more off the smallest loan. This doesn’t work for all people because sometimes the interest might be too high and you have to consolidate, but it’s a great concept for those who it will work for. You can use this same snowball effect for your goals in life. You can either focus on the smaller or bigger plans first. Having a schedule is important Doing the same activities at the same time each day is key to creating a habit. Forming a routine and habit starts with day 1. Take it one day at a time Exercise is important and we should be exercising daily, but completing high intensity workout everyday is detrimental to the body. You need a rest day. On on or two days you can walk for exercise. A great day to do that would be the sabbath, go for a nature walk. I love going on nature walk in Central Park on sabbath. It’s beautiful. When it comes to diet, having a cheat meal here and there is not bad as long as it’s planned and not to frequent. I usually have cheat days twice a month, sometimes I have them once a week. Track your progress, if you see you are still progressing, great. If not, scale back on the amount of cheat days. A cheat meal here and there can help with your sanity I eat healthy so I can feel great And I occasionally eat junk food so I can feel great As a christian God should be first and foremost in our life, but even when it comes to spirituality we need to be balanced. I’m not saying to just kinda love God. the Bible says in Matthew 22:37-38 that the first and greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart and soul What I am saying is to not be fanatical and legalistic. The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to pray without ceasing. Of course that doesn’t mean to be on bended knee 24/7 because that is impossible. You need to eat, sleep, and work to live. In conclusion, put God first and let Him plan your life. Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. God wants what is best for you and He wants you to be balanced. Do not neglect Him in your plans.
