Eat donuts and stay fit? Find out how!
In this episode we address:
Is there an ideal diet?
What is a raw vegan diet?
What is an A- Vegan diet?
What is the 300 diet?
Why are certain foods not the best?

Research Notes:
In a review of studies, intermittent fasting was shown to cause 3–8% weight loss over 3–24 weeks, which is a significantly greater percentage than other methods
Intermittent fasting has been linked to anti-aging effects, increased insulin sensitivity, improved brain health, reduced inflammation, and many other benefits

PubMed.gov:
A review of 12 studies including 1,151 participants found that people on a plant-based diet lost an average of 4.4 pounds (2 kg) more than those who included animal products.
Plus, those following a vegan diet lost an average of 5.5 pounds (2.5 kg) more than people not eating a plant-based diet.
Plant-based diets have been linked to many other benefits, such as a reduced risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, certain cancers, and diabetes.

Vegans may have up to a 75% lower risk of developing high blood pressure and a 42% lower risk of dying from heart disease.
Vegetarian and vegan diets to a 12% lower risk of type 2 diabetes, with vegan diets being the most effective.

Vegan Diet: Its focus on fruits and vegetables, which are linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes. Additionally, this diet is rich in fiber — a nutrient linked to lower blood sugar levels and increased insulin sensitivity.

Studies consistently link raw food diets — including raw veganism — to lower amounts of body fat
“Mean BMI was lowest in vegans (23.6 kg/m2) and incrementally higher in lacto-ovo vegetarians (25.7 kg/m2), pesco-vegetarians (26.3 kg/m2), semi-vegetarians (27.3 kg/m2), and nonvegetarians (28.8 kg/m2). Prevalence of type 2 diabetes increased from 2.9% in vegans to 7.6% in nonvegetarians; the prevalence was intermediate in participants consuming lacto-ovo (3.2%), pesco (4.8%), or semi-vegetarian (6.1%) diets. After adjustment for age, sex, ethnicity, education, income, physical activity, television watching, sleep habits, alcohol use, and BMI, vegans (OR 0.51 [95% CI 0.40–0.66]), lacto-ovo vegetarians (0.54 [0.49–0.60]), pesco-vegetarians (0.70 [0.61–0.80]), and semi-vegetarians (0.76 [0.65–0.90]) had a lower risk of type 2 diabetes than nonvegetarians.”

In another study, people following a raw vegan diet had a total body fat percentage between 7–9.4% lower than those eating a typical American diet
Women lose weight faster on a raw diet then men. Menstruation cycle can be affected negatively. And you can go underweight. Bone Density lowered.

Scientists note that one of the main ways a raw vegan diet may impact a woman’s fertility is by being very low in calories. This may cause women to drop too much weight, reducing their ability to menstruate.

Processed food: Several types of unhealthy chemical compounds also form when food is cooked under high heat.
Many chemicals formed during high-heat cooking have been linked to an increased risk of cancer and heart disease
Alternative healthier cooking methods, such as boiling, stewing, blanching, and steaming.

I think how the Bible says, "do not destroy your brother with your meat". I think that means, don't eat things that will offend people. But if that person is not around, then it's ok to eat it. I guess that's what it means.
I think it's not a sin to eat meat unless you are convicted that you should not eat it. I read EGW said that in the last days, we are going to have to give up meat and eventually milk and eggs. I think she was talking to the last generation. I think she said the diseases would be coming from the meat. Before Covid-19 happened in 2019, I told my kids we have to get off of meat now because I had this feeling that big diseases were coming. I think that move saved our lives. Especially my son who has multiple chronic health problems. EGW said the meat would cause the diseases in the last days.
I think in heaven, we will not be eating meat. Maybe some people think that God will magically remove our craving for meat when we get to heaven. But God did not magically remove the Israelites cravings for meat when he took them into the wilderness. God took them out of Egypt and put them on meatless manna. I think them coming out of Egypt was a symbol of us being delivered from sin on our way to heaven. God was angry at them for lusting after the flesh pots of Egypt. I feel like the last generation will be held to a higher standard than everyone else because they will be standing before God without a buffer, in the same way Israel was before God without a king. They had to deal with him directly. They knew more therefore more was required of them.
EGW talks about how meat and spicy food make it harder for us to overcome sin. I think hardcore Adventists need to live up to this light that we were given if we are serious about overcoming sin.
I don't think this message was for everyone. Obviously non- christians are going to come in during the 3rd angels messages doing all kinds of unKosher things, but yet they are called and chosen. But those of us who grew up knowing all these inside truths that the world was not privileged to know, we will be held accountable for them. To whom much is given, much is required.
So in short, is meat a sin? Only if your conscience convicts you that it is. In other words, this meatless diet is for the elite, (the Navy seals of Christianity who are being trained to do what no other generation on earth has ever been called to do...prepare the world for the end. A slip up now and then is ok, but keep moving toward the meatless goal).

That's my 2 cents. I hope it doesn't sound arrogant. I would never tell anyone this because they would probably be offended. If you think what I wrote is totally off the chart, I wont mind if you tell me so. I know I don't know everything. Still learning.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I've been vegetarian all his life. I don't think being vegetarian is a mark of holiness. I don't think eating meat is sinful. Jesus not only ate fish, but also ate lamb. All Jews did. He even ate fish in his resurrected body. Jesus would never do something that was a sin. So why don't I eat meat? Because I know it's healthier not to. This is the same reason that I enjoy going on a raw diet (The longest I have ever done was 6 months without any off days). Having a garden of Eden diet didn't make me any more holy, but it gave me more energy to do His work. That to me is the biggest benefit. So the more people that can get on a better fitness lifestyle the better. Because grogginess, sickness, and disease is not helping the Kingdom of God. Ellen White herself (according to the White Estate) ate meat on occasions.

I do believe people should prayerfully follow their convictions. Praise God you and your family made a move toward a healthier lifestyle. I've seen more people join a healthier lifestyle by showing the health benefits than speaking about it as a rule.

In heaven we will be given new bodies. We won't be eating meat in heaven, because there will be no more death. With our new bodies we won't have to worry about cravings. 😊

So this healthy living is about our quality of life now. God has provided all the natural resources, including natural spices. It's up to us to take advantage of them.

I agree; being vegan doesn't make us holy just like keeping the commandments does not make us holy. ☺

Exactly. The Psalmist says "Happy is he that keeps the law." Keeping the law is good. Same goes for health. It improves your quality of life.
